Watkins Glen International (Classic Boot)

The Nissan GTP class at Watkins Glen was defined by the late-race exit of Gabri Martinez, who controlled the field for 38 laps before crashing out of contention. Martinez’s departure on lap 39 opened the door for Carlos Peralta6, who had started in fifth position. Peralta6 capitalized on the opportunity, taking the lead on lap 39 and holding it through the final two laps to secure the victory. Shady Ahmad, who started from the fourth position, finished second, while Laust Olsen completed the podium after starting third. Despite finishing with eight incidents, Olsen maintained his position among the lead group throughout the 40-lap event. In the Audi 90 GTO class, Joni Hagner experienced a significant setback after running as high as second place. Hagner battled at the front of the field for 17 laps before a crash forced him out of contention, ultimately relegating him to a sixth-place finish with four incidents. Following Hagner’s exit, Arturas Kundelis claimed the victory after starting the race in third position. Andreas Schuster, who started on the front row in second, finished second, while pole-sitter Noel Luneburg rounded out the top three. Kundelis completed 36 laps despite incurring seven incidents during the contest. Elsewhere in the field, several drivers demonstrated strong recovery and pace throughout the race. In the mid-pack battles, Petr Slehofer delivered a standout performance by gaining eight positions in his class, while Cam Porter also improved his standing by moving up five positions. Conversely, high incident counts hampered the progress of other competitors; Kaya Eray Elderson recorded 14 incidents throughout the event, while Tjark Skogsson logged 10. These performance disparities highlighted the challenges of navigating the Watkins Glen Classic Boot circuit during the IMSA Vintage Series event.
